Threads of Legacy: The Inspiring Crochet Journey of “Remy Ram”

Remy Ram – A Crochet Journey

Sixty-three-year-old Edeza San Jose, who often goes by the alias “Remy Ram,” has been honing her crochet skills since childhood. Back in her grade school days at a Catholic school, she was introduced to both crochet and embroidery, quickly discovering a fondness for both. However, it was her mother’s impressive crocheted bedcovers and curtains that truly inspired her to pursue the craft.

Over the years, Edeza became a seasonal crocheter, occasionally setting her hooks aside but always returning to them with renewed enthusiasm. For the longest time, she dreamed of creating beautiful crochet dolls, yet struggled to find clear and manageable patterns. Her search eventually led her to Crochetree on Facebook, where she discovered just the inspiration she needed.

Edeza’s first purchase from Crochetree was a pattern named “Louise.” Eagerly working through its instructions, she crafted her very first doll. The result was so charming that a friend admired it on sight, prompting Edeza to gift Louise to her as a token of their friendship. Motivated by this success, Edeza bought the mermaid pattern next and soon completed another doll, further bolstering her confidence.

To date, Edeza has made 14 dolls using Crochetree’s patterns—each one a product of patient practice and careful stitching. She admits that there have been small mistakes along the way, but she believes it’s all part of the learning process. Whenever she finishes a new piece, she feels a rush of pride, marveling at the intricate patterns and the time she has invested. Because of how precious each creation feels, Edeza finds it difficult to part with any of her dolls.

When asked about a favorite crochet moment or memory, Edeza confesses she wishes most of all to show her completed dolls to her late mother, whom she knows would have been proud of her accomplishments.

For those considering a venture into doll-making or crochet in general, Edeza encourages them not to be intimidated:

“Don’t be afraid to try. As long as you have the Crochetree patterns, you’ll never go wrong. Read the instructions beforehand, understand them, and keep practicing. You’ll be so proud when you finish your doll.”

Crochet plays a vital role in Edeza’s daily life, as it has taught her the importance of patience and persistence.

I'm so thankful for Crochetree, especially to Adriana and Ticiana, you're all so talented. So thankful to God that you shared your talent with us crocheters. So proud of you guys. God bless you all.”
