Left-Handed Legends: Maike’s Creative Saga

Life, in its unpredictability, introduced challenges in the form of Fibromyalgia and Depression, steering Maike away from her professional path. Yet, it was during this period that she rediscovered her love for crochet, a skill initially taught by her Granny and honed through self-teaching, internet tutorials, and books. 

Being left-handed in a predominantly right-handed craft world added an extra challenge, but Maike approached it with the same tenacity and courage that marked her exploration of other crafts.

She's the kind of person who’s tried her hand at, well, pretty much everything. Silk painting, FIMO, sewing, Viking knitting (because why not?), and a bunch more. But among the myriad of crafts she's dabbled in, crochet holds a special place. It became a lifeline, a means of expression and therapy that allowed her to weave together not just yarn, but her own narrative of resilience and perseverance.

"In 2021, I think, I saw an advertising from Crochetree on Facebook, and instantly fell in love with these beautiful dolls!”. The dolls, with their intricate details and the promise of endless possibilities, were not just projects but companions on her journey of self-discovery and healing. They became the canvas for Maike to pour her creativity into.

But here’s the kicker, the Crochetree community turned out to be the cherry on top of Maike’s crochet sundae. 

In wrapping up our tale, Maike extends a heartfelt message of encouragement and guidance to crocheters at every stage of their journey: "So the advise I would love to give Newbies and all others: Never shy away from asking any question you have! And never let anybody tell you, that your dolls aren’t beautiful or you didn’t good enough! Your dolls, and anything else you do, is unique, no one can do it like you!
