Anita Singh, a devoted public servant from India, always carried a love for art, craft, and dolls close to her heart. Although creativity pulsed through her life since childhood, especially inspired by her mother’s knitted garments, crochet was a world she had never entered. That all changed when a serendipitous scroll through Facebook brought her face to face with Crochetree’s enchanting dolls.
Here is Anita’s story, in her own words:
"Hello, I am Anita Singh, from India, working in a government job. Since childhood, I have been deeply interested in painting, art, and craft, and I have always been a doll lover. However, I was completely unaware of the world of crochet.
My love for handmade crafts may have been inspired by my mother, who, since my childhood, would knit beautiful sweaters, cardigans, and scarves for me and my siblings. Watching her create something warm and meaningful with her hands left a lasting impression on me, though I never ventured into knitting or crochet myself.
About a year ago, while scrolling through Facebook, I came across a post from the Crochetree ads. Seeing those beautiful dolls, I thought they were finished dolls and contacted Crochetree to purchase them. That’s when I learned that they only sell patterns. I initially gave up the idea, thinking I could never make them, as I had never even held a crochet hook before.
But I couldn’t resist admiring those dolls. So, I bought some yarn and a crochet hook from the local market and started learning basic crochet stitches from YouTube. At that time, I was posted in another city, away from my family, and had plenty of free time after office hours. So, I decided to purchase a doll pattern from Crochetree.
The Crochetree team was incredibly supportive and encouraged me, assuring me that I could also create these dolls. Their constant motivation and assistance gave me the confidence to try. My first doll pattern was “Valentina,” and I found it to be well-written and easy to follow. That was the beginning of my crochet journey.
So far, I have made nine dolls using Crochetree patterns. Initially, I made many mistakes, but each mistake taught me something new. With every doll, I improved my skills and gained more confidence. Watching the work of other crocheters in the group kept me motivated. Their discussions and suggestions were extremely helpful and played a significant role in my learning process.
Crochet has brought positive changes to my daily life. It has improved my concentration, served as an excellent stress reliever, and every time I complete a doll, I feel a sense of joy, as if I have created a new life. In a way, this journey connects me back to my childhood, just as my mother poured love into her handmade creations, I now find the same joy in crafting something special with my own hands.
I hope to continue following Crochetree patterns and create many more beautiful dolls in the future. I sincerely thank Crochetree for giving a non-crocheter like me the opportunity to learn and create something so wonderful.
In the end, I would like to say: if a beginner like me can create these dolls, anyone can do it. Thank you! ❤️"
