Faith’s Crochet Journey: A Legacy Woven in Yarn

Faith’s Crochet Journey: A Legacy Woven in Yarn

Faith Bradley-Sharpe has been crocheting for nearly her entire life, and every stitch she makes carries a story of love, memory, and connection.

She first picked up a hook at just six years old, guided by her mother, an incredibly talented maker who crocheted, knitted, and sewed. During much of Faith’s childhood, her mother was battling cancer, but even through that difficult time, she was determined to teach her daughter everything she knew.

And teach her she did.

Now, 58 years later, Faith has never stopped crocheting.

“Every stitch, I feel her love,” Faith shares. “Although she is not with me anymore, crocheting is my way of keeping her in my thoughts and in my heart.”

Faith sadly lost her mother when she was just 19 years old, but the skills, patience, and love her mother passed down have stayed with her ever since. Over the years, Faith has created hundreds of handmade pieces: more than 100 pairs of socks, countless sweaters, hats, mittens, and afghans, each one woven with memory and care.

Today, that lifelong love of making has found a new chapter.

Creating Dolls for the Ones She Loves Most

When Faith discovered Crochetree’s doll patterns, she was instantly hooked.

“I am addicted,” she laughs. “The patterns are amazing, so well written and easy to follow.”

What makes the dolls especially meaningful for Faith is the ability to customize them. She carefully chooses hair colors, eye colors, and outfits to reflect each of her five granddaughters, making every doll deeply personal and one-of-a-kind.

“I love creating items for my family and friends, especially my six grandchildren,” she says. “Being able to adjust the dolls to match each grandchild makes them even more special.”

So far, Faith has completed five dolls, and she’s already planning many more. She regularly checks the site for new patterns, excited for what she’ll create next.

A Community That Keeps the Joy Growing

Beyond the patterns themselves, Faith speaks warmly about the Crochetree community. The support, the encouragement, and the joy of sharing creativity with others who understand the love behind handmade work.

“If anyone out there is new to crocheting, these patterns will help you create amazing dolls and outfits,” she says. “The instructions are awesome, and help is always available. I have yet to find a better or more helpful group.”

For Faith, crochet has never just been about yarn and hooks. It’s about honoring her mother’s legacy, creating joy for her grandchildren, and continuing a lifelong journey of making memories with her hands.

And with every new doll, every new stitch, that love continues… beautifully, patiently, and endlessly.
